Quilt Raffle for Cystic Fibrosis!

You know those people, the ones you love to death, and would do anything for?  My friends from High School/College fall into that category.  We have been there for each other through thick, thin, pregnant, sad, happy, and whatever else you can think of.  When I found out a few years ago that my friend, Katie, has a daughter with Cystic Fibrosis, I knew I wanted to help.  I wanted to ease her burden somehow, rally around her,  and let her feel loved.

In the past few years, I have become more aware of what CF really means, looks like, etc.   I grabbed this off the CFF website.

"Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:

  • clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
  • obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond."

Since we learned of our friends daughter, our group of friends has played a part in raising money for Great Strides, a charitable organization that for CF research.  Each year we get together, and do what we can.  This year, I thought I might do something for those of us who LOVE quilts.

I made this 26" square quilt to be "auctioned" off.

HOW?  Simply donate to Great Strides by following this link.  For every $5 you donate to the cause, I will put your name in the pot for a drawing.  How will I know who donated?  I get the information from the cff.org website.

Since I really want to raise as much money as possible, I would really like your help to get the word out!  If you put a link on your blog, facebook, or twitter, I will give you a chance to win the quilt as well.  (Remember to let me know you posted it on your blog, or I won't know!!!!)

Let's work together and raise a little money, and share some love!
